A Starting Point (ASP) is a video-based civic engagement platform co-founded by actors Chris Evans, Mark Kassen, and entrepreneur Joe Kiani. Founded in July 2020, ASP's mission is to demystify complex government issues and increase participation in our democracy, especially among young people. The media brand creates explainer-style videos about key policies while providing unique opportunities for Americans to engage directly with their elected officials, access nonpartisan election resources, learn how our democracy works, and gain a deeper understanding of policy issues from multiple viewpoints. Thousands of new voters have registered to vote using ASP's dedicated election resource hub. In 2021, ASP launched an education pilot program, ASP Homeroom, to support civic learning in schools. By presenting diverse views and bipartisan discussions, ASP is working to create a more civil discourse. ASP recently received the 'Spirit of Service' award for helping "build a more civically engaged society."
